At Home With, Izi Simundic

by Maddi Campbell |

We sit down with muse, Izi Simundic, who (virtually) invited us into the beautiful CASA Studio and shared with us how she is keeping a positive mindset during lockdown plus her favourite pieces from ÉSS THE LABEL's latest collection BANKSIA.

SB: We’re all spending a lot of our time at Home lately, what does the notion of ‘Home’ mean to you?

IS: The notion of ‘home’ has evolved ten-fold for me over the past two years.
Given the ease, with which we could once travel, I never took the idea too seriously. Pre-covid I was living in London and that was my home. I would bounce back and forth to Australia and never really had miss anywhere. Cut the ease of travel - and the past 18 months has definitely tipped my idea of home on its head. I have come to realise that home can be anywhere, but you have to bring the love yourself - no-one else can do that for you.

SB: What are you currently listening to / reading / watching?

IS: I love Pod Save The World, a v good podcast on global current affairs. They’re about 120 minutes, so I break it up over my morning walk. A friend just passed on a book call “The Power of Habit” - all about unlearning the things we once deemed inherent to our character.

SB: Do you have any tips for keeping a positive mindset during lockdown? We’re currently loving pilates!

IS: A good morning routine is a game-changer. To me, the perfect morning is a soft-sand run, ocean swim and an espresso via my favourite barista - Grazie Enzo!

SB: What’s the best advice you have been given?

IS: “Character is how you treat those who can do nothing for you”
We all have the power to impact somebody’s day, so it’s important to take responsibility for the energy you exude.

SB: What are your favourite pieces from ÉSS THE LABEL’s new collection, Banksia?

IS: The Claudine Bodice Top is my favourite, pair with high rise MOM jeans and thick gold jewellery - et voila!
